electronic music world

I'm new here so forgive me if it's been mentioned but a new national radio station has been set up in the UK. It claims to be the 1st in the world that only plays unsigned acts. You upload your tracks on the website and then get played on the radio, maybe. I uploaded a few tracks and a few days later I heard one of them on the radio. A great feeling, waking up in the morning putting the radio on and hearing your track. I've heard it over a dozen times now. Also you can buy the tracks you like through the website for 79p. The artist gets 50p. No strings attached. The're doing test transmissions at the moment, 24/7, and will be starting soon. I don't work for them!!! The website is AMAZINGTUNES.COM and the radio is AMAZINGRADIO next to the BBC on the buttons.
On a lighter note, in reply to scary Hox Vox in a different thread, I reviewed one of my tracks, on Last.fm, as 'a crap bedroom mix.' (Which it wasn't of course.) Of course not they all chorused!!!

that does sound amazing. i'm assuming this is digital radio? we only just got that here in aus and like no-one has a receiver for it.

i put an album up on jamendo under the tags "crap, emo" and something else I can't remember. sometimes it suits the recording. i didn't want too many people listening to it or even worse thinking it was the best i could do, hence the "crap" tag. Yes hox vox is a little scary. (sorry if you read that hox: but it's the truth)

ok, from their terms and conditions:

"We acknowledge that copyright in any music composed and posted onto this site belongs to the composer of such music. Copyright in all other information and materials on this site belong exclusively to The Amazing Group Limited. All copyright, trade marks and other intellectual property rights in this Website (including the design, arrangement and look and feel) and all material or content supplied as part of the Website, other than the uploads themselves, shall remain at all times the property of The Amazing Group Limited or The Amazing Group Limited’s licensors."

I don't like that: that means my bio and any lyrics I put up etc. are owned by the company :(

Thanks Alan, signed up. Not too worried about that clause, I think it's mainly aimed at protecting their design and page contents not to really try to take anything from us...

Think Pix is right about that. Simply a way of protecting their site design and Amazing radio generated content. It seems like a good idea.

Not sure how long it will last as a business though. Many of these firms start up and have sound backing, but the costs eventually run away with them as they become a victim of their own success and have to buy more and more server space. The eventual need for sponsors and advertising dilutes the original intent and they have throw their lot in with Global Corp (LastFM springs to mind). Hope it lasts forever though. Sorry - that sounds very gloomy. Didn't mean it to.

You're probably right. I'm not gonna be signing up though because it's paid downloads, and I still wanna keep my music free for the listener. Let me know if and what success you have there guys!

They do free downloads too. I'll let you know how much success I have. I'll come and visit you in my Rolls Royce and tell you!

Uploaded a few tunes a couple of weeks ago, but they're not showing on the web site and there's no way of checking whether they played them.

Or is there a way to check the tracks' status?

Hi, use the Artists Stats button on your Home page. It tells you if your track(s) have been playlisted.

Registered. Now all I need to do is sit back and let my page there gather dust and cobwebs.

As we speak I'm no 3 and no 8 in the top 10 and jumping up and down with excitment! I've been played nearly a hundred times (different tracks) in the last two weeks. I won't let your tracks get old and grey and gather dusty cobwebs Reconsiderate, I'm going there now :)

If you're registered as Reconsiderate you don't seem to have uploaded any tracks?

Cool AJA, congrats! I'm just hanging out over there with one song for now and slowly starting to find artists I'm connected to elsewhere to connect with there too, hopefully it will grow over time as I find is the case for my profiles on other sites sometimes...
