dementio13 Your Thoughts Please?

This is a re-post of an entry from my own blog (http://popeyedoyle.wordpress.com/).... just wondering what you think about the points raised...... OverKill.com? 25 07 2009 @Autorotation (on Twitter) posted a comment about whether to join “yet another” music site promising ‘increased exposure’, ‘earnings from you music’ and ‘a way to contact your fans’. The issue was that the internet/market/whatever-you-call-it is oversaturated. I myself have joined many a site which claims to b… Continue

Angus Maiden Lift The Black Veil

I've been honing and refining this album for quite some time and am now completely satisfied with it, so now, it is in your hands. As always my music is free and this album is no exception. "Lift The Black Veil", which can be found from archive.org at 320kbps here, explores something rather prevelant in western culture: the vampire. The album takes a look at both the fantastic, mythical vampire archetype as well as exploring the notio… Continue

Somojo Somojo Magazine

Although the initial idea behind Somojo was to be an internet radio station for independent and unsigned musical artists, things change very quickly on the world wide web. While still working on the programme schedules in preparation to stream the great music ‘live’ across the internet, the Somojo crew have also been working on adding an online magazine to work along side the radio station. Due to a large number of suggestions from listeners and artists for things that wouldn’t fit into a typic… Continue

Angus Maiden Fur Bunni3

I have just released an EP of classical music for my no. 1 fan, entitled "Fur Bunni3", it can be downloaded for free in a number of high-quality formats (even .wavs this time) at www.archive.org/details/FurBunni3 ... I have also included the first four tracks in my player at Pixies Palace (The fifth track, "The Other Side" - which spurred Bunni3 to request more music like it and thus spawned the EP - is on the player further down, as it was… Continue

Angus Maiden Review of Baskyl - Far Beyond Home

Let's talk about The Journey. It may be a cliche to say this, but it is more important than the destination. Having just finished a deep contemplative listen to "Far Beyond Home" in surround sound I sit, flabbergasted, in silence, and let me tell you, silence just ain't cutting it. I just want more. I want to hear these amazing sounds again, and again, and again. Having said that, I'm restarting the album right now while I continue to type... ...ah that's my fuckin' fix right ther… Continue

Angus Maiden Review of Reconsiderate - Niche Work

Juxtaposition, division, conflict; tools often utilised by the skilled artist to create a piece of work that directly challenges the observer. This album cannot be listened to casually. It is a challenge. I knew it would be from the moment I opened up the cover of this CD and read the words on the inside cover: "Dear subconscious..." The album is a challenge to figure out, a challenge to listen to and an even greater challenge to like; but I enjoy challenges, and it's what's kept me coming back… Continue

Angus Maiden Review of "Yet Another Beat Maker"

I was very excited the other day to receive two brand new shiny CDs from my net-friends Reconsiderate and Tom Rex aka. Yet Another Beat Maker as part of the "holiday season CD swap". I am fairly familiar with Reconsiderate's music so I decided the first one I would listen to is Tom's, which I had never heard before. His (debut?) CD is entitled "Yet Another Beat Maker": a name that screams humility, as much of an oxymoron as that is. And indeed, it is quite humble. I'm not exactly sure what the… Continue

Pixieguts 2 Reviews in 1 Day

Review: Northcape and Pixieguts "Pacific Highway is a top quality track in every sense. The production is crisp, clean and clear and this is as a professional sounding track as you are likely to find anywhere on Soundclick. Pacific Highway is a very soulful offering, smacking of the kind of bread and butter “Bristol Sound” trip hop that I listened to through the late 90’s. Pixiegut’s melanch… Continue

dementio13 What's In A Name?

I was recently considering a change of identity. No, not some witness protection-style change of name, face and address; but a change of alias related to my musical output. My ’sound’ and working practices are constantly changing, so it seemed like a good idea to build up a new name and listener-base. In the end, I decided against it as I seem to have a decent enough (in my view, at least) number of listeners and plays on Last.fm, and to start all over again would mean I’d have to start at zero.… Continue
