Collected music by Adrian Carter featuring my voice

Since 2007 I've been providing vocals for music by Sheffield UK's minimal/experimental artist Adrian Carter. This all began with me being a big fan of his unique instrumental sounds and running around telling anyone and everyone I could about it. At about the same time Adi contacted me to ask if he could have a crack at a mix using my vocal samples from 'Long River' (the original was made with my partner Titee and was the first ever electronic track featuring my voice).

Needless to say I jumped at the chance and Adi became one of my first ever net collaborators. We have been making music together ever since. As this has often involved remixing, our tracks together are spread around the net on different artist profiles and sites so I thought it might be time to bring some of our tunes together in one place for listeners to properly hear what we've been up to over time.

As I see and hear it, Adi's music expands on the conventions of how artists can approach music and his tracks featuring my voice are no exception. There is an unusual freedom in Adi's music, an immediacy more often associated with personal writing, sketching or miniature painting, an extra feeling of intimacy and spontaneity. Added to this is a wonderful sense of irony, playfulness, fun and groove and an expert 'surgical' cutup approach to mixing voice with electronic sounds.

This collection includes original tracks we have made together, Adi's vocal mix versions of tracks I've made with other artists and regular remixes. The player is courtesy of Earth Monkey Productions, one of the very best sound art labels around and publisher of several of Adi's fantastic albums.
